'96 Dome Light, NO door chime
Just went through a massive cold spell, when the snow finally melted and I drove my 96 Ranger again, the dome light wont turn off and I've been disconnecting the battery for the last couple days when I'm not driving.
I had the issue about 10 years ago where the dome light wouldn't turn off, but the door chime wouldn't turn off either. WD-40 in the door worked fine then. Haven't tried it yet, but not having a door chime this time makes me wonder if the cause is something different. The dial control for the interior light is set to off, and on/off/on/off doesn't turn the light off.
Other than the door close sensor, the only other cause I can think of is the ignition. Mine needs to be replaced, since it will turn and start without the key. However, the light stays on when the engine is running or not. However, I'm still putting the ignition in the normal off position, rather than turned further back for the power-on/engine-off mode where I'd expect the light to come on.
Is there anything else I haven't thought of?
UPDATE: I'm an idiot. The issue was the passenger side door, some WD40 fixed it up again. I don't think I ever noticed that the passenger door doesn't have the door chime.
