Question Shifter Knob won't stay on

I did some searching on the forum and found only posts pertaining to removing the shifter knob. I have the opposite problem though, mine won't stay on, and I'm actually quite happy with the look of the stock shifter knob. Probably because my interior is completely stock and in really good shape, prior owner was in his 80's

So any thoughts on how to get it to stay on? Just glue it? I know it isn't threaded.

I just wrapped the splines on the shifter with a few layers of electrical tape and pressed the knob back on it. It was a little difficult to press it on with the extra layers of electrical tape but it hasn't budged since i did this a few months ago...

There is not an allen screw on the side. Actually when I check I noticed there was a section missing just about that size. Well, now I know why I can't get it to stay on heh. Guess I will be either looking for a replacement, or trying what you mentioned with the electrical tape.

I did something similar, but after a while the material became loose again so I did again only I dropped some gorilla glue down inside the knob and shoved it back on. Hasn't moved since
