Cruise control paddle covering
I have an 02 ex-cab with the cruise control paddles that bolt onto the steering wheel, it looks like the paddles are covered in a vinyl sticker that has nearly entirely pealed off, anyone know where/if its possible to
re-cover the paddles? If not has anyone recovered them another way?

Most just buy new ones (eBay etc.) & call it a day. Pretty easy to remove & replace.

at least in the video those are the hard plastic paddles, mine are rubber with a vinyl or something similar cover. the only problem with mine is that the vinyl peeled off so my entire cab glows green at night so I'd rather recover than fix what's not technically broken

Re: Cruise control paddle covering
That's not doable. Only fix is replace the cruise control pods.

IIRC - For that "vintage" Ranger (Expo etc.) - the cruise pods are all the same "style" & material.
The pods becoming brittle, pealing, cracking is a pretty well known issue on these vehicles due to their age.

I know they are the same style, they must have changed the production method or someone else makes replacements that don't shatter like the oem hard plastic ones

Never heard of these 'shattering' ever before. And this would not be my first Ford...

Run with that you want..but, we've seen them fail in all sorts of different manners over the years (rips, tears, cracks etc.).
Mine didn't "shatter" - but did develop a "wear tear" type of deal in the coating.

lol ok.
Although (even if accurate), a broken pad is still a broken pad.

shattering may not be the right term, the ones that came in my dad's 05 Explorer Sport trac were made entirely of hard plastic and on more the on occasion he pushed his thumb through the cover of the button leaving them looking like the ones in the above video
where on my or Ranger the buttons themselves are a hard plastic back thats backlit but has a soft rubber button/ front surface so it doesn't crack or break but the black coating does come off

we may be describing different types of pods, the ones in the explorers i've dealt with are hard plastic buttons and end up looking like the ones in the video you posted (which thank you for by the way it may end up helpfull)
however my buttons are rubber/ some sort of silicon, and is pealing src="http://i657.photobucket.com/albums/uu295/evan_014/20161208_150236_1.jpg"
rather than breaking. I was hoping to repair something fairly irritating rather than inoperable

Re: Cruise control paddle covering
Yep, mine had a "rubberish" outer covering as well - hence my old 2003 developed "wear tears" in them (AKA: rip in the outer layer) versus any type of cracking.
Sure, like yours - mine still technically "functioned" - but looked like crap (and would get worse with time): So I spent the whole like $45 & simply replaced them. Which starts the wear cycle over at zero.
The manner and/or type of malfunction aside - There isn't a "fix" outside of replacing them as far as I've even seen.
