Default Floppy Vents

The two vents in the middle of my dashboard refuse to stay pointed level or up. Just a slight bump or two, and they are both pointed straight towards the floor. Is there some way to tighten them up in the sockets?

Also, these are the vents that do not have the ability to be closed. My old 99 XL had closable vents, but this 2000 XLT does not.

I've read in another thread (might be a How-to) someone slipped an o ring on the part where it pivots on.

There is a member here that has documented a fix using o-rings; I believe his screen name is mikeinbama or mike-in-bama. As an alternative to o-rings, I've fixed lose vents by using felt (hobby store item) and thin 3M double sided tape to make pads that can be located out of sight. Problem solved.

Yep. It's me.

Have a look at my profile pics and see if that doesn't fix you up.

It took awhile to come up with a nice, clean fix but I was hit in the head with a brick when it came to me.

Super easy, super cheap.

I followed your pictures and I no longer have floppy vents. 10/10 would unflop again
