Default 2002 Ranger/"Door Ajar" switches

Anybody know where to find the door switches on the 2002 Ranger that control the "Door Ajar" warning and the dome light? Mine appear to be sticking, as the warning and the light stay on sometimes for extended periods even though I make sure both doors are tightly closed. Back in the day they were easy-to-find little rubber-covered spring switches on each door, but I'm darned if I can find anything like that on my 2002 Ranger.

the switch is actually located behind the latch inside the door, so you will need to remove the latch on the door to get to it.... also, not sure if you have rear doors, but those have the switches as well. Oh and believe the part number is SW-5528 (XF1Z -14018-AA) from Motorcraft.

Thanks, and also Rats!!!! Why, one wonders, did they decide to make it that hard? Maybe so you have to have the dealer do it? Hmmmm....

What you're describing is a frequent problem posted to this forum and the simple solution is to soak the door latches in WD-40 and slam the doors closed for a few times.

the only thing I would change in that is that wd40 overtime hardens and dries, leaving you where you began, in my personal experience penetrating oil, or white lithium grease work a little better

Thanks to you both, perhaps I'll try a rubber-friendly spray solvent of some kind, followed by WD-40 or spray silicone or such-like.

THE REST OF THE STORY: Sprayed both latches heavily today with some leftover air mass sensor cleaner, then blew them dry with compressed air, then lubed both with spray silicone, and all is well.
