Default Dome Light

I apologize if this has been posted previously, but I couldn't seem to find it. I tried to remove my dome light the normal way, and wasn't able to get it, so I took off my third brake light because I'd heard you could access it through there. I didn't see any way to get the the dome light from there.

So I went back in and began prying with a screwdriver. I was able to pry the entire do melody to where I could see it was not just the cover coming off. It is still fully intact, but when I pull on it the entire fixture comes down, not just the cover.

Any ideas?

I used a small jewelers straight blade screwdriver & if you look at the dome lght lens you could possibly see where the tabs are that hold it on & push the tab in & pop the lens off.

That could be 2 types, there is this one where you stick a knife between the clear and chrome parts and pop it oit (don't worry about breaking it, it doesn't break as easy as it feels):

Or there is one with switches, which I believe has an indent to put a knife in at the back... Sorry, no pics for that one.

I have the one with the switches. I tried getting something in the slot, but when I pried it from the slot, the whole light was coming away from the headliner, not just the cover

Hmm, maybe try twisting a little? To be honest, I couldn't get mine and broke it... Also broke one at the junkyard trying to have a replacment so I did the mustang dome mod... Wish I could help more...
