'96 Ranger Airbag Light on Solid
I've been having an issue with the Airbag Light on my '96 Ranger. It's a 2.3L Manual Trans. and has no Passenger Side Airbag, only the driver's side.
A while back (several months) I was driving to work & smelled an odd burning odor and started looking around to see if I noticed any smoke coming from the hood, etc. I didn't find smoke, but I did find that the Airbag Light was illuminated. I looked for some answers for a while and couldn't find anything; My truck isn't throwing any of the flash codes that are seen in most of the cases I've seen around the internet. It just turns on and stays on.
At the time I looked enough to find out that, more than likely, this just meant that the airbag won't go off in the event of a crash. This wasn't a huge deal for me since I almost never have a reason to get in a zone with a speed limit above 35mph.
I'm about to take the truck in for inspections and, of course, that's got me noticing this again & I'd like to get it taken care of. I've checked the fuse & it's not blown. The horn & turn signals still work so my understanding is that ruled out the clock spring. I checked the plug behind the passenger's panel to make sure the plug was still connected & that looks fine. At this point I'm looking for anything else I can check as I would really rather not take this into a dealer or a shop and get slapped with a $100 diagnostic fee just to know what's wrong. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks All!
