Default Cruise buttons hard to press

I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced cruise control buttons being difficult to press? Mine are hard to press, to the point that you can't feel the button actually click. If the head is on and i direct the hot air onto the buttons they soften up and seem to function more normally.

My theory is that the rubber material has just gotten hard due to age (16+ years), but wanted to know if anyone, esp w/ older vehicles, has experienced this as well.

Yup, I'd say 90% of them dry out & get hard as a rock over time.
I've tried everything to try to revive them, but nothing has really helped (should note that I have or have had probably 50 sets of cruise pods at one time or another)

Thanks buggman. I was considering trying to revive them too, but sounds like that would be a waste of time .

Do you just replace the whole assembly then? my right assembly lights are burned out too.
