Default Installing kewood DPX520BT in 1996 ranger

I am installing above stereo and have run into two snags. I finally got the radio to operate bu putting red(ign wire) and yellow (battery wire ) together and hooking to the power lead from the battery. Sounds great but won't really turn off. Where is the best place in that model truck to put the ign wire since I know it really doesn't go with the other one. Second snag is that the face plate on this double din model radio is much larger than original stereo hole. I'd really have to cut into the faceplate about another half inch up to have it fit flush. If you've installed on of these ,how did you get around that problem? right now I have it screwed to the original dash faceplate just so the face of radio is flush but there big gaps on the sides left to cover .The cage they give you to hold the radio is way to big for the opening in the dash so I'm really not seeing how I can even use it. Thanks in advance for any answers.!!

Yellow to battery. Red to accessory fuse in the fusebox. Get a fuse-tap. Must trim the stock bezel at opening top and bottom. Look in the audio-video forum.

Thanks for the help! I had tried the yellow/black wire coming from the harness several times and it hadn't worked. Finally learned it was fuse #20 in the box that controlled the radio and found...a blown fuse. Connected the wires back up and turned the key...finally ..some music in my ranger!!
