2010 seat swap question
Has anybody swapped seats in a 2010 or 2011 (single cab)? How does one deal with the sensors, and such?
Here's the lowdown - I've got a line on some bucket racing seats, from a '97. I have a 2010. I'm not sure of what I'm getting into other than the simple things.
If I'm not mistaken the '97 rails should bolt right in, maybe make a hole or 2 bigger at most.
I'll have to switch the seat belt buckle from my seats onto the buckets for the seat belt sensor.
The thing I'm wondering is, what is this about a curtain airbag sensor?
Is this a removable sensor?
If not, what would be the best way to go about this?
Any advice, suggestions, or links to necessary information would be VERY helpful.
Thanks!

Re: 2010 seat swap question
Its not just the sensor, there is an actual air bag inflator in the side bolster of the seat. you cant just swap the airbag from one seat to the other, and theres no way to fool the computer into thinking the airbag is there when it isnt. if you really want those 97 seats, youll have to give up a set of working airbags, and live with an annoying dash light.

Good chance the two airbags in the dash will also be deactivated when that light is lit.

Re: 2010 seat swap question
The curtain airbag is INSIDE the seats? I was under the impression that the curtain air bag was in the head liner. Hmmm, seems this may be a bit of a problem then.
Is there no way to trick the sensor into thinking said device is there? Maybe taking the airbag out of the seats and using parts to confuse the system?
I'm pretty sure both the financing company and the insurance company would have a hayday if they found out the airbag system was disabled.....

Should be a small cloth tag on the side of the seat indicating there is an airbag contained within it.

Re: 2010 seat swap question
Hmm, so so far, The only option to make sure everything work - aside from the prox sensor (my seats are all the way back all the time anyway, so I should be able to trick that) Would be to (sounds like a stupid idea....probably is) to remove the airbag from the stock seat, and put it under the seat after making sure it won't fire properly and try to blow my nuts out my mouth.
This is sounding more and more like it's a bad idea. So the absolute ONLY way I will ever legally and safely have buckets, is to find a '10+ with buckets. No racing seat will ever work with the '10+ models. <-Right?

Before I get too ahead of myself - Thank you to everyone helping me out here. Greatly appreciated, even if it's exactly what I didn't want to hear

if you have ever witnessed an air bag deploy first hand, you would know how bad of an idea that is. i've set a ton of them off and im still not convinced after that big of a BANG that i want them anywhere near me.

Re: 2010 seat swap question
Any way to modify the factory seats with power options? I wanted to do a swap for power options, but after doing some research it doesn't seem like an easy modification for a 2011 with airbags...
