So, I would need to cut my middle seat out and make my 60/40 bench, two individual seat buckets, after that, will the explorer console just fit snug with contour of the dash?

Can confirm. Did the very same thing to my 1999.

You will need to shoot a pair of screws into your floorboard though to securely mount the console, btw. On mine, I bolted it up to the dash and shot a pair through the forward eyelets around the cupholder area. The floor 'plate' where it's supposed to slide in and lock raises the console, and it's not a perfect fit to start with.

Automatic. I wish it was a manual, though.

I gotcha, I'm curious about mounting the shifter boot under the hole in the console.
I'm a manual, so i gotta have a plan to make it look good.

And o have a CB radio to the right of the stick where the ash tray is, but I can move that.

See the part on the left, where I turn my passenger air bag on and off, will that make explorer consoles hard to fit?
Or will the console fit with that there?

That will have to be removed before you put the console in

Sweet. I'll be heading to the junkyard on Friday and hopefully I'll come home with a console.

You will have to bypass the switch as the airbag check system will throw a airbag light if not properly done.
