Hi all,

I recently replaced the armrest support and it fixed that problem but recently the whole centre console has been really loose.

How do you 'screw' it back in place ...?

I looked on Youtube but did not find anything useful.

In the pic below, to the left of center, you will note two white, oval shaped plastic nuts inserted into the metal floor; this is where two screws go. On top of the aluminum casting and hiding under the felt pad (I put that felt there) are two more screw holes. That's it, four screws hold the console to these points.

On my 2003 FX4 I had the same problem, and it was the aluminum support. There are four bolts holding it in that appear to be spot welded to the body. Three of them had come loose due to fatigue from what I can tell. I ended up drilling new holes and bolting it down.

I've seen this same thing happen on both Rangers and Explorers.

Once you remove the console, you should be able to wiggle the aluminum bracket. If there's any movement, it needs to be fixed as mentioned above.

This. The two front bolts on the aluminum support is what usually breaks off from the body. Mine has the same problem.
