Default Re: So how bout' that airbag recall? (Expanded 6/1/16)

Damn...finally upgraded from my old 97 Ranger to a new(to me) 07 XLT 4.0 Ranger in April. Love the truck!! Was reading and lurking around the ole forums here and just found out that my truck is now included in the air bag fiasco! One of the first things I did when I bought the truck was look for any recalls and there were none. Until now...so I guess it is time to call the local dealer and let them know I own this truck and see if I can get it fixed. I see it's only for the passenger side bag however. Shouldn't be a problem that I didn't buy the truck from a Ford Dealer should it??

Nope - not when it comes to getting the work performed. You might not get the initial notices - but you're all over that part at this point.

Worst case - all you should need is basic "proof of ownership" when it comes to getting the mandatory recall performed.

Yeah, I talked with the local dealer this morning and he said parts are NOT available for any of the 16 recalls yet...wonder if they are blowing smoke or what, as I though I read that you indicated parts ARE available. Hmmm....

No but they place that sold it shouldn't be allowed to sell it until all recalls are performed.

When I bought the truck in April, there were no recalls listed for it. They extended the recall to include the 07 on the first of June from what I have read.

Well I ran the vin in April prior to purchase and nothing came up. Ran it again last night after reading that Ford had extended the air bag recall to include 07-08 Northern Rangers and it popped for recall 16S26 which is the passenger airbag inflator replacement.

It is a violation of Federal law to sell a vehicle with an active recall that has not been performed.
