There is a big chain here that advertises on TV all the time that they take care of recalls before selling it. I'm like, really? You don't break the law? And you want to use it as a reason for me shopping there?

Default Success!

July 2015--got the recall on passenger airbag--said they would notify me when parts were in. January 2016--got the notice passenger airbag parts were in, and 2 days later got the recall for the driver's airbag--said they would call when parts were available. Wanted to do both airbags at once, so waited. July 2016--went to dealership and they didn't know anything??, but reordered parts and said they'd contact me when parts were available. Sept. 29, got call both parts were in. Took truck in Sept. 30th, and got-r-done.

So how do I test to see if the airbags are good or not??

Here we go with more childish blame everything on the government crap. Takata which is a Japanese company makes the air bags, not the US government or Ford.

Do you want to test to determine if the system is armed, ready and fault free or do you want to know if it's still possible for the airbags to inflate with such force that metal shrapnel disgorged during airbag deployment could sever an artery in your neck and result death?

Finally got some free time and swung into the service dept. when I was picking up some parts. Got the Recall notice like 6 months ago. They have the fix for the passenger side and a temporary fix for the drivers side air bag. He said it is actually the inflator that is recalled and not the airbag. I told him I would call back in a few weeks. He also said the recall affects a bunch of other manufacturers. Its a third party part that's in a lot of different vehicles.

My 2010 XLT short cab is on the list for the passenger side air bag recall. Dealer says no parts available. 7 years old and no parts yet available -- What BS!!

Just got mine done last week, both sides. I don't recall which side took 6 months to get, we just agreed to do both sides at the same time. Took the truck in Friday, and got it back Wednesday. It was sort of an emergency me taking it in, so it was a surprise to them and I both. Any way, no big deal, I had a very nice loaner, '16 F150, 3.5 Egoboost.

Bummer it took them so long, my 'bag recall was taken care off last summer in about an hour, all paperwork and a vehicle bath included. As for the loaner they gave you, that sounds like a extended test drive purposely planned for a qualified buyer. Smart of them to use rental (lease) returns /trade-ins like that on the right people!

LOL, well, that ain't gonna happen!!! I did make the statement though, that if I was an old guy, I might buy a truck like that!! They know I'm only 66.

Read my latest note on recall 16s26 today, again. Just noticed...do not allow anyone to sit in passenger side seat until the repair is made.
