The ones in my 2001 CR-V worked as advertised. This why it's in the junkyard and not on the road. Those suckers are expensive and were enough to total and otherwise repairable vehicle.

Actually, seat belts save lives. Not wearing a seat belt and getting hit with an airbag will do more harm than good.

http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall...53587r-eng.php

This Cdn Govt website has details:

Model year(s) affected FORD RANGER 2004, 2005, 2006

Advisory details
On certain vehicles, the passenger frontal airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure during airbag deployment. Increased pressure may cause the inflator to rupture, which could allow fragments to be propelled toward vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. This could also damage the airbag module, which could prevent proper deployment. Failure of the passenger airbag to fully deploy during a crash (where deployment is warranted) could increase the risk of personal injury to the seat occupant. Correction: Dealers will replace airbag inflators.
Affected products

its like testing a match lol....

they probably are still good. my 95 escort air bags worked back in 09 (14 years old at the time). although they did more harm than good in a 30 mph crash i guess they do help some. i just dont think they should go off under like 40... imo...

I got a letter yesterday from the Ford dealer that worked on my truck, that my airbag is recalled, and they will get hold of me when I can get it fixed for free. Mine is a 2004 Ranger Edge. (BC, Canada)

Nope. It's going to be awhile since 17 million vehicles need their airbags replaced and there isn't an adequate supply.

My guess is that particular air bag maker is not going to be in business long after the dust settles. Or they will just barely squeak through. Assuming the car manufacturers will still do business with them after this...

or at the very least car manufactures will demand higher QC from them which will drive up the price of the air bag, then will in turn raise the price of the car. and who gets shafted then? the consumer as always...

Shafted? Sounds like Mr. Consumer will be getting a better product. Should it not cost a little more?
