Default Problem Installing Explorer Full Console

I'm trying to bolt the front bracket up and attach the side panels to determine where the back bracket needs to mount but with the front bracket and side panels mounted I have a 1/4" gap between the dash and the foam on the front of the console. Has anybody else had this problem and if so how did you correct it?

I installed the full console completely assembled. Bolt the front part up tight and push the console forward.

You're just gonna have to bend the tabs on the metal bracket forward towards the firewall until the gap is right.

Well I Have it to where the foam is up against the dash but now there is a gap on the bottom front between the console and floor, is this normal?

I have a gap there, with my truck having the vinyl floor I thought it was normal.

Maybe it is but I'm not sure, it's hard to see that part in pics of other installs I've seen.

Well after mind numbing adjusting of the console I have finally come to the conclusion that maybe just maybe the juting under the carpet on the transmission well is thicker on an automatic versus a standard. I'm not 100% sure but that is all I can come up with, sooooo, either i'm going to leave it with the gap between the bottom front of the console and carpet, glue a piece of carpet that I removed for the rear bracket to the inside sticking down to blend it in with the floor carpet or shim under the carpet in that area to bring the carpet up to the bottom of the front of the console. Decisions, decisions...

You can buy that same foam with adhesive on it at home depot or Lowes. I had the same problem and that was my fix.
