helo, I need heat in my truck 93 ranger
hi there I have used the search on here w/o much luck my truck has no head i took out the ash tray and mount along with the front of the dash piece and found the cable that controls it from heat to air wasnt even hooked up the cable looked bent and not attached so I was trying to manual move it and it barly moved. i finally traced down where it hooks to and up inside the glove box on top of he big plastic thing is a blue looking lever and a white thing sticking up I try to move this by hand with the cable still attached on this end but no luck..
can you some how get this to move so the bland door will close or open? I need heat i could car less about air.. truck ac compressor is not even hooked up its winter in GA and i need heat.
i feel heat when sticking my hand on the blower/heater cor box so i know it will work if that door is in the right spot but how do i get it there?
i read one guy cut his box open and put his hand in it to push the door closed or open for heat or air but why he have to go inside it? dont get it you cant just move that arm up top a certain way??
Please can anyone help me, i work a lot do not have any time in day time was just outside in 30 degree weather trying to figure this out

Well since your ranger is the easy one to do the heater core take it out reach down there and open the door. Not sure if that will work but its worth a shot.

Easy one?? what is easy? take what out the heater core itself?
have to remove the whole dash for that right..
I just want to be able to switch the blend door to heat for now.. then maybe when summer come i might move it back to air so not blowing hot heat all the time.. or might not worry about it.

STOP whatever you are doing.
There is a great write up telling you how to diagnose no heat right here on the forum. I found it by searching "no heat"
NO HEAT Troubleshooting Guide
I would follow that FIRST. The 2.3L has many items that work in the heating system that can go wrong. It is a great write up.
Check it out and report back

My truck wont warm up if I turn the heater on right away therefor no heat either so I use it to defrost my windows while I let ol girl warm up in the morning

Re: helo, I need heat in my truck 93 ranger
Follow the link i posted and fix the truck. If the truck is not getting to operating temp it is bad for the engine. And no heat is bad for the driver.
"ol girl"? please your truck is only 12 years old. My ol girl is 21 this year, and the heat will melt your face, AC will freeze your eyeballs

Well heat works off coolant heat so if you turn the truck on and don't let it warm up and turn the heat on, obviously it's not gonna work.
My heat on the other hand barely works when at a stop, while driving its hot as all can be.

Re: helo, I need heat in my truck 93 ranger
WOW you guys blew my thread up ha ha..
Well i thought I covered it all maybe not..
truck has antifreeze. its full
the hoses going to Heater core both get HOT.
So this means its not a stoped up Heater core.
I know the problem..
the cable that goes from hot to cold on the dash is broken....
All i need to figure out is on my yr truck 2.3 engine how can i close the flap door so that i can get all the heat out of my vents..
the other control that moves it from defrost, to floor to vents works fine its just the control to switch rom cold to heat that is broken and i dont know how to make it so it give me heat. I kept playing with it lastnight and thought i felt a tiny bit of heat from it when moved the arm thing a certain way but it feels like something is keeping it from going all the way..
Thanks I am looking at that chart now but i need more info on the heater part and flap and all.
Yeah I guess a defrost plug in thing would be good. they really work that good? I might go get one i need HEAT now... I need to start driving this thing daily on friday but I need heat its down in the teens this week
Again, Mine is manual controlled it has a cable that controls it, i seen a write up where a guy cut a square hole to put his hand inside the black box and pushed the blender door to get heat but i could see his was all vacuum controlled so not sure if my box on mine is the same and if this could be done or not.
