Default Shift knob on my 88 ranger?

How do I get it off and will a locking shift knob work? One that has 3 screws and you tighten to tighten on the shifter

Not 100% sure but I believe your shifter will be splined like this at the top after you yank like hell and get the knob off. The splined part is going to be about 3/4" in diameter and you might have a hard time finding a aftermarket knob with an I.D. that large don't know.

Of coarse this is always a nice looking option.....
