Im wondering if anyone ever attempted to do this.

Im looking to convert it with a powered lowering window ... same glass if possible.

Re: Rear power window??!
Anything could be done, but the question is it worth the work in order to not have to lean back and open the window manually.

Re: Rear power window??!
I have a full glass on mine .
i think it would be wicked to be able to drive with the full window down or half down.
depending on the cost of course...
could always go to plan b and replace the rear window with one with the little door....

Re: Rear power window??!
I have never understood why ford never did this. I believe they actually had this on the bigfoot addition ranger or f-150 back in the 80's. I doubt many of you remeber that truck. It worked in the broncos tailgate for all those years too. There used to be an aftermarket kit that installed inside the ranger cab that did the same thing, again in the 80/90's.
Back then I had an 88Ranger GT and a windowless shell and the boot between the cab and shell. lol

Re: Rear power window??!
It wont work on Rangers because the Window Bolts into the cab, you can see the flange here
The window doesn't really have a place to go into when it sldes down

true, but like mentioned above, anything CAN be done, its just how much work do you want to put into it...

That's the center part that slides, not the whole thing

Re: Rear power window??!
On a newer ranger where the window bolts in? probably pretty intensive.
If I was going to do it:
Step 1, go to junkyard, get complete rear hatch with sliding glass assembly from full size bronco. Maybe $50-$100 for it depending on what 'yard your at.
Start hackin;
I'd probably try and find a way to make the glass itself go rearward 2" and then drop down between the bed and cab. That way there is ample room for error in it's exact placement retracting (usually a big problem from what I've heard when making them retract IN the cab).
Cannabalize the junkyard one for the mechanism/linkage/motor/. Find a way to mount them between cab/bed. Just have 2 little arms that look like antenna attached to the glass itself that push it up, then forward.
That would be the cheapest/ easiest that I can think of to try and not destroy your own truck.
Cost would be very low, probably $200 in parts at most and not terribly time consuming compared to hacking up the body.
making it retract straight down into the cab itself would be pretty hard.
If it's a single/panel of metal on the back of the cab then I'd remove the bottom of the mount metal piece/gasket with an angle grinder. Just mount the motor/mechanism/linkage from the Bronco one right onto the back wall of the cab. And once you figure out how to make it all work and function right make a new rear wall piece to cover up where the window will retract into. Maybe if you're really cool you'll find a way to retract it down into a sub box/housing all as one unit!
Sounds like it would take alot of effort just to get to the point of mounting the motor/hardware itself. Lots of cutting the cab. Sounds painful honestly lol.

Re: Rear power window??!
if i had it retract outside of the cab then wouldnt i run the risk of it breaking when offroading? (frame twist)
----------
