oil pressure gauge
Oil pressure gauge in my 2001 3L engine is not working properly. The needle is under the peg instead of on top. When I start the engine it moves up against the peg. Could it be a polarity problem? This happened after I had a tune-up and oil change. Where is the sending unit located?

The sensor sometimes goes bad, not sure where it's located, but that's usually the cause of oil gauge issues.

Re: oil pressure gauge
You are still going to want to get that needle on top of the pin so that it can function. I found my needle jumped whacky on hot days when I came to a stop and idle. The first time, I got to the cluster and used a thin piece of wire to reach it and move it back into place. When it happened again, I got the cluster out, removed the front clear plastic and glued a small (very small) brad nail under the H to prevent the needle from ever jumping like that again. Now if it should occur, the nail will act as a stop. To dress it up, I painted it black. I used a nail in my small hand crank drill to make the hole and super glue to fix it in place.
