Default Bolts through the back/bottom of the cab?

I've got quite a big subwoofer box in my truck, and for fear of it being stolen (truck has been broken into before), I was thinking of getting a few bolts to secure it to the cab. I know this has been done before, but I'm just hesitant on my placement of said bolts. I don't know how long to buy the bolts or where I could put them without damaging anything. Any input is appreciated.

And if it comes down to it, I'll just do mass amounts of velcro, lol. Thanks!

Single cab correct.

I would go with a bolt that is 3 1/2" long. Cant really say for what u may hit. I'm not familiar with that year truck and how it is configured.

No, sorry. It's an EXT cab. Does that make a difference?

97 2WD EXT cab 5 speed if any of that info is needed. I'll get started on a sig soon, lol.

Well on my ext cab there is literally nothing under there. Only thing you could possibly hit on mine would be the drive shaft if you were toward the middle.

When I put in my center console. I had to drill the holes and bolt it down. I came within 1/2" of hitting the drive shaft

So, you're saying on a 5th gen, there is practically nothing to hit if you were to drill away from the center on the bottom of the cab? I'm thinking of doing 2 through the bottom and 2 through the back of the cab.

Brad.....just do it son! I finally got mine properly mounted and it's rock effin' solid. I utilized my stock jumpseat threaded holes in the rear "bump" of the cab. Threaded in some all thread, marked my holes, drilled 'em, tossed the box back on and threaded the nuts and washers on. I used 1.5" washers sandwiching the MDF. Now I know you don't have a 4dr like me, but I'm sure you can take some ideas from me and utilize it on your 2dr gen3. Here's a quick snap-shot....

[edit]: So photobucket is down....so I'll just attach my pic below. As you can see, I can barely use the rearmost hole....didn't plan it out perfectly, but the thing is really really solid. And using torx head wood screws adds some more security as well...

Take a peek at Brandon/Mb128's thread linked here: http://www.fordrangerforum.com/vehic...love-subs.html

I'm not a big fan of it(I would've made it alot cleaner looking), but it shows how he mounted his to his back wall.

You're the man, Shane. I've been meaning to secure this box for quite some time now but haven't gotten around to it... :/

Also, Are those bolts welded to the hump in the cab?

Yeah, pretty much. The nuts are like welded to the cab....stock. They're the threads that the stock jump seat bolts thread into. I threaded in some all-thread(aka a bolt without a hex head, just a threaded rod). Remember, I've got 4dr and my shit's a bit different. I just posted to give you an idea and spark that light bulb. I honestly havn't a clue how 2dr's are back there. lol.

we dont have that bolt, because our jump seats pull out of the wall not from the back.

Alan....is there anything under the carpet on the hump on 2drs?? Or just straight up sheet metal? It's been forever since I've seen a 2dr naked.

Oh, alright.

Just to spark that lightbulb, I went to the JY today and found an exact replica of my truck (except it was a POS) and tore out the carpet to check back there. That hump is nothing but an eyesore at least for the first foot away from the sides of the cab. I pulled some drain plugs and reached my hand inside the hump only to find....

....NOTHING.

And convieniently, there's some 1/2" holes already in the hump so all I'll have to do is put the bolts through and into my box. This will be done saturday!
