Unhappy 2012 Ranger Air Conditioning (A/C)

So...this is my first post and visit to the site. I use a 2012 Ranger for work and our service department doesn't do A/C work. Our A/C is blowing cool air, but it is not cold and has progressively worsened. What can I do to fix this? Its only two years old. Is there a filter that needs replacing? Thanks!

You are probably going to get a lot of blind stab answers to this, but there is one and only one way to correctly determine what's wrong with your AC. ANYTHING else will be a guess.

You need a set of AC pressure gauges and someone that knows how to interpret them.

That being said, everyone and their brother is going to tell you to get a can of R-134 and add it to the line and see what happens. It may fix you up - temporarily. Just BE SURE to add the coolant to the low pressure side of the AC. If you don't know where that is, get some help!

I believe they built fleet Rangers till somewhere around December 17th 2011. They were the last Rangers and billed as 2012 models sometime after September.

they made them on into like June 2012 I believe but they were only for fleet vehicles and were already sold. But as what was said above get somebody with a set of gauges and somebody that know how to read them(not always the same person). If your low on refrigerant you either have a leak (Likely) or you have a weak compressor that's not producing the pressures required (less likely)

Wow, All indications were that Twin Cities Ford Assembly Plant, Saint Paul, Minnesota closed its doors for good on December 16, 2011. 800 people lost thier jobs that day.

I wonder where these trucks were built untill June 2012.

As I mentioned before, these fleet vehicles were built after MY 2011 change over to MY 2012 sometime in Aug/Sept? 2011 and built untill closing day. 2012 Rangers were not sold to the public.

X3 on checking the pressure. Having too MUCH refrigerant can also cause it to blow warmer (overcharged or bad blow off valve). I had that happen to mine after getting a new compressor installed, the shop put a little too much in lol
