I would do it for free aside material cost. It would take longer but I wouldn't go around *edited* people out of 500 dollars that can be used on better things than paying for some simple shit to be done to a cluster
Although, the needle thing is new to me lol

I make more than 100$ per hour to tune cars professionally... am I screwing them out of their money? Or does this fully capture my time, education, experience? Don't forget I did spend more than 3 weeks on this project, and material costs (with spare cluster) were > $100.
"Better things" is relative. What's better to you, might not be better to someone else. Can we see pics of some of the clusters you've done for free? I have pictures of 3 of my own that I can share..

your not realizing that your looking through a camera that overexposes itself to LED light. It looks like alot of color, but not overly bright in person.

Re: 2003 Ranger Cluster - LED Lighting Project
Same here that is working I'm slowly working on mine one thing at a time doing a days worth of a job on each so I can always put it back in to use it if I need to go anywhere (only cluster). So yeah, need more LEDs. Jp7, you sell?

I only have 2 feet of White LED strips in it. Didn't do any cutting and soldering I just found a place to lay it but it came out looking nice. I want to do the needles BADLY though. Once I get my camera ready I will take some pics and post it. But need to get some sleep, today is my birthday and going to celebrate tomorrow/today I'll keep this thread posted

buy a spare and modify that - you can do this on trucks 2003 and older.
I bought my strips from superbrightleds.com. I bought 5 of the 19 inch nonwaterproof strips for this - hvac included.

needles are very tricky. Drilling the clear faces is nerve-wrecking. I can make the rings, drill the faces for you if you want. It was by far the hardest part. I spent a half hour each drilling each hole (6 total) - if you do it too fast or not with a drill press you will crack the plastic. They need to be perfectly centered also. See my earlier photos.

The needles that have an amber color to the solid part will not work good at letting blue LED monochromatic light pass through. I suggest you use clear needles with no color and paint the underside of them if you want a different color. blue and amber (well orange really) are opposites so they cancel eachother out. I ran into this problem when LEDing my 2004 Ranger cluster which came with the orange needles from the factory. I had to replace them with clear ones.
