Hey, all! I just want to say thank you to this forum for the very detaild, step-by-step gude for replacing the instrument cluster lights:

However, there was one addendum I wanted to make. When following this guide, upon removing the instrument cluster and disconnnecting the eletrical connections (as directed in Step 11), there is a fourth connector - a black wire conduit on the bottom of the instrument cluster. I investigated removing it, and discovered that even when disconnecting the quick-connnect there was a thin wire running into the instrument cluster. I can only assume that this wire eiter runs to the shifter indicator, or connects to the speedometer. In either case, I decided AGAINST disconnecting this wire all the way in fears of possibly not being able to re-assemble properly, and since I had no direction from the how-to guide. With this wire still connnected, I was not able to totally remove the instrument cluster. As it was, I was able to reach behind the cluster and remove the lights as directed, finished the repair, and re-assembled without major issue.
For what its worth, my Ranger is a 2003 Edge vintage.
Thanks once again!!!
