I've painted some of the stuff inside my truck, but it just doesn't have the shine that I want. I've been using Krylon plastic paint. A friend of mine said he used the same paint as he used for the exterior. That will be okay some day when I repaint the whole truck but for now is there a way to make it shine a little more? I am about to strip it off and put a new coat with the same stuff and this time I have a super double gloss clear coat. Hopefully that will make a difference.

Several coats of clear coat with a light wet sanding between coats and a polish on final coat will make it shine. Don't strip the old off unless its damaged or has imperfections.

Did you primer it before you painted it??? Wanting to do some myself...

I didn't primer. The Krylon paint says you don't have to. But I did sand it a little. One of the arm rest things on the door has a pretty deep scratch in it that I'm not sure what to do about. I may try to fill it in with something first. And I do need to clean them up really good because I put fleece on my doors last year and used spray glue. It looked really cool for a while until it started getting dirty and I took it off. It left a lot of adhesive and fuzz everywhere lol.

Didn't think about polish... just any kind? Like the kind I use on the exterior? I use Turtle Wax Ice products. Thanks for the help.

Did it have the rubber like coating on it ? I sanded that stuff off mine and had no problem getting a great shine without clear coat.

No mine was just black but seemed like it was just molded that color, not rubbery like the grips on the steering wheel. I'm going to start working on it a little tonight and try to finish tomorrow and get some pics up.

This is my interior. I have cover the armrest so it is black now.

Did you take all those pieces off to paint or just tape everything up really good? Like the steering colum and passenger air bag front. Looks nice.

Since they all are like 2 bolts to take off I took them off.

Goodstuff Gal.... it really makes a difference when painted. I took all my interior and did it in white leather. yes I did and the inserts here and their are in burnt orange. I just wanted a more uniformed look. I took a painters spray gun and sparayed my parts than I hit them with a light clear. with the gun you can get it at Harbor Freight for a few bucks so to speak and the gun has a better spray consistency than the can. I had the same problem with the can and with the gun I now have professional painted pieces. I will be putting pics of befores and afters soon.

My husband has some nice spray guns around somewhere. I need to learn how to airbrush some cool graphics on there now. I am working on the paint now. I got some of it done yesterday but ran out of paint. It looks SO much better with the clear coat on it. I did paint the passenger airbag cover but didn't take it off. I'm not sure what two bolts you are referring to TrucknGolf? I just taped around it really well and put newspaper up everywhere so I didn't end up with blue windows too I also painted the fuzzy part of my door at the bottom where the map pocket is. I was worried it look a little weird but it looks awesome! I just used the same paint I already had - the Krylon paint for plastic and it worked great. I promise I will get the pics up tonight.

Here's a couple of pics. I'm only putting up the thumbnails because I'm too lazy for all the other stuff, and its not done and I don't want to show the imperfections to close Thats the passenger airbag panel with all the newspaper and tape around it, then the unveiling. And the other is the passenger door where I am redoing the handle/arm rest area and also painted the bottom part by the map pocket. Let me know what you think.

never paint interior plastics,,if you want quality with durability order vinyle/plastic spray dye off ebay it is surface penetrating shiny and it will never crack and flake.
