Post Transfer case problems

I have a 2004 xlt with the automatic BW-134 transfer case, and it will shift correctly into high range but will not shift to low range, what could be the cause of this?

Are you using proper protocol when you try to shift into 4L?

Yes, I have tried putting it in park as well as putting it in neutral and it still will not change

x2 on this.

Are you doing this:

Shifting from 2WD (2WD high) to 4X4 LOW (4WD low):
  1. Bring the vehicle to a stop.
  2. Depress the brake.
  3. Place the gearshift in N (Neutral) (automatic transmission) or depress the clutch (manual transmission).
  4. Move the 4WD control to the 4X4 LOW position.

Shifting from 4X4 LOW (4WD low) to 2WD (2WD high):
  1. Bring the vehicle to a stop.
  2. Depress the brake.
  3. Place the gearshift in N (Neutral) (automatic transmission) or depress the clutch (manual transmission).
  4. Move the 4WD control to the 2WD position.

First in 4H and then pausing before going to 4L, and with vehicle totally stopped and brake on?

Yeah, keep it pressed the entire time.

Usually the culprit. That or not putting in neutral/clutch.

Don't feel bad, you're not the first to ask.

I do have one more question though that does not have to deal with the transfer case though, while the engine is running, I have some sort of ticking noise that is coming from what sounds like the injectors or the valves, do you have any idea what that could be?

More than likely it's the injectors, which if soft and subtile is normal. Some engines on some cars have plastic covers over the top of the engine to both insulate injector sounds and to reduce it by operating like a muffler, ie, sound wave cancellation.
