Default Fuel Gauge & Temp Gauge

I just purchased a 2000 ranger with 3.0l v6 for my son.
Just noticed after driving when you switch the truck off the fuel gauge and the temperature gage remains in their current position.
the oil pressure and amp meter will drop off to the bottom.

Is this normal for a 2000 ranger ?

I have a 2001 f-150 and when I switch the engine off all the gauges
drop off to the bottom and was thinking the ranger should do the same

is this a problem ? is it pulling a current drain on the battery ?

if you go out the next morning the temp gauge will still be showing the normal 1/2 mark. When you switch the ignition on it resets itself to cold and then works as normal.

Do I have a problem ???

The gauges on my 2000 all drop down to zero when you turn it off. Don't know if that could be a battery drain, though.

Well hell...maybe I'm wrong and just never paid attention. I'll pay more attention when I go out for lunch.

The biggest problem I have with my instruments is that the fuel gauge doesn't go above 3/4 tank (reads fine from 3/4 down to E) and the tach has a short in it so I have to tap on the plexiglass on the gauge cluster to get the tach to work, and then the first bump I hit it goes back to zero. The oil gauge does that too, but not as often as the tach.

Yep. I was wrong. Temp and fuel stay where they were. Oil and voltage drop to 0.
