LED dash light question
If I swap out the (presumed to be) 194's turn lights in my cluster for LED's, will the turn lights wig out and require me to add a resistor or will it be plug and play, with of course, attention paid to correct polarity?
And BTW, I did a little searching and there seems to be some inconsistency in the usage of lamps that are removable from the socket vs lamp + socket being a glued together, thus a disposable (bic) assembly. If this is the case, is the "footprint" for the lamp in a "bic" light socket in the dash the same as the good old fashioned and used forever standard footprint for a 194 bulb in a cluster, meaning that next time I'm at pull-and-hack I should grab a handful of sockets where the incandescent bulb can be removed and a LED one inserted just in case I'm greeted with the bics in my dash?
Thanks guys!
On edit: There is at this time, no other LED turn/brake lights.

Re: LED dash light question
If you change the cluster lights that will not change the turn signal making hyper flash. It only happens wen you change the actual turn signal bulbs.
Here is a link to my install.

----------
If you install LED turn signal bulbs all you need is a EP27 flasher rely that replaces the factory one. It is located under the dash on the driver side.

Re: LED dash light question
But what about the two little guys in the cluster?
On Edit: Ok, that's great news! How about the sockets?

Re: LED dash light question
No the cluster will stay the same
I dunno about the sockets mainly cause I don't understand the question.

Sorry, I"ll try rewording a bit. From what I have read it seems that when some people go to replace dash cluster bulbs they discover that the bulb socket they removed from the cluster has the bulb glued into it. Yet, others find that the bulb can be removed from the socket. I think the result is that there are two styles of assemblies.
So on that note and since my cluster will soon be out, I'm planning to replace a few incandescent bulbs with LED's. If I have the glued assemblies I can't readily swap. So, what I'm wondering is if the dash cluster itself accepts both styles of bulb sockets. Because if so, and I thnk the answer is yes, it would probably be best for me to have some of they type that allow bulb replacement on hand rather than hope that is what I have and be wrong at an inconvenient time. Thoughts on the socket footprint or the configuration of how the removeable bulb sockets (male) fit into the (female) dash cluster?

Yes the cluster will accept both sockets. I have had both in mine and both work fine.

Re: LED dash light question
His is a 97 and you have a 04. I would be careful because they like to change things up.
When I put in led lights the base was a lot smaller then the older trucks.

Good point, that's what I was wondering about and referring to with the words "footprint" and "female socket". But on that note aren't there just two different "hole footprints" (female socket) sizes that Ford has used in cluster over that last 20 or so years, a large (size is age old) and a smaller one? And if both accept the 194 base (T5) then it's no biggie for me to have both styles on hand just to avoid a surprise.
