Default Ford Ranger seats

I have a 97' Ranger XLT extended cab 2WD with a 60/40 split bench seat. I want to conver it to bucket seats. I have found a nice pair of bucket for an '01 extended cab ranger edge. Can I know the bracket and mounting are a little different. Can I take the brackets off of my current seats ('97) and bolt them to the '01 ranger seats? Am I way off base or is this a simple idea?

It is easy as removing the brackets on your current seats and putting them on the new seats. Both sets of seats have 4 bolts that hold them to the seats.

I'd like to raise my seats an inch or so, there is plenty of head room. All I can think of is mounting the rails on wooden blocks and bolting those down. Any thoughts?

Don't use wooden blocks, they are not strong enough to support the seat in a crash.

I wouldn't raise the seats any. Anything you do can be damaging to you in a crash.

I went out and looked and the seat rails are bolted in a forward facing direction which would make it hard to get around. Does Ford make a power seat for this truck? That would work nicely.

^^ Why are you hijacking this guys thread? Create a signature with information about your truck and start your own thread.

all explorer seats will bolt into ext cabs. most have a power driver's seat.

negative. you cannot unbolt the rails off the 01 seats. however, the 01 seats should pretty much bolt into the older truck as they are both extended cabs.
