I changed plugs, wires, EGR, fuel filter, flashed the computer. Still it idles some what rough. Just bought this sweet 2000 ranger and want to make it purrrr. Any tips. Ford dealer will change the DPFE for $420, ouch.

DPFE is the pressure sensor right in front of your intake plenum, its black and has 2 vaccuum hoses coming of of it. buy aftermarket or find an oem quality one on ebay. and 2 screws and your done.

The price they quoted him is astronomical for a part that takes 5 minutes to replace.

make sure the vaccum hoses from the DPFE are staying connected to that pipe that runs to the EGR valve underneath the plenum, i have the same problem, it idles like crap and sounds like an exhaust leak when you acclerate, its actually just the vaccum hoses coming off that EGR pipe, turns out i just had a clogged and streched vaccum hose, a cheap hose and couple of hose clamps later problem solved and it idles perfectly
