The way the back lighting is on the clusters, each bulb will have a diffuser above it that spreads light to certain areas... so ford can use 6 bulbs instead of 20 bulbs to light up everything relatively well. A less expensive alternative would be to sand the back of the overlays removing all the stock color filtering & paint the areas you want particular colors using duplicolor metalcast spray paint. Then you could use white led's to illuminate everything evenly & the red/blue/green/pink/whatever colors. A lot less work, but it may not give the absolute best results. ---------- Why good sir, you can get a cool $25 worth of led's for that HA! dang. I've seen somebody's cluster on here set up exactly what I want. It'd be cool. Do you have the pith blue like the newer f150? Would I still have to sand?

And yes my cluster is like yours.

Yeah, to change colors you'll need to sand the back of the overlays unfortunately.

The easiest & least expensive way to get the results you'd like would be to sand & paint the back areas with duplicolor matalcast paint. That way you could use white led's & it will illuminate the red/blue areas properly.
You can also control how dark/deep the colors are with the number of coats of paint you spray on.

It's not that hard really. The tricky part is calibrating the needles afterwards, something I haven't done myself.
The sanding/painting is simple.
Here's what the background area looks like after sanding:

You may see a few remnants of green where I had them painted green at one time.
Just mask off everything you don't want painted the 1st color & spray a few coats, let dry & shine a bright flashlight behind them to simulate the white led's & keep spraying that color until you're happy with the color.
For the 2nd color, unmask that area & mask off the 1st color so as not to overspray onto it & repeat.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any good led arrays to mod into 3156/7 bulbs lately
All my suppliers of those parts started sending me junk & I've been slowly testing a few new ones but they haven't been that impressive.

Not sure exactly what that is, but if there's a bulb in it, I'll sure try to led mod that sucker

the Passenger Airbag Deactivation switch. It's under the radio bezel. You know. You can put your key in it and shut off the passenger airbag

Ah ha gotcha :-)
I have done a couple of the airbag switch led mods. I'll have to find my diagrams with the polarity but I should be able to mod one up.
