Re: buggman's Plug-in LED's leds (KY)
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!
This is the reason I run all my LED's thru thorough tests before I go "public" with them...
These were some affordable (about $25 a pair) 5050smd LED's with cree emitters on the end. They were manufactured, not modded in any way by me.
They were really bright at 12v so as usual I run them on one of my testing regulated power supplies at various voltages for differing lengths of time. These lasted about 20 minutes at 12v before I heard a PLOP on the plastic box setting under them on the floor.
While they were testing, I was doing other mods & just let them run in the background... there's not much I can do other than watch the bright lights, kinda like watching paint dry.
These LED's got so hot at 12v that they literally melted the solder joints and not only did all the 5050smd LED's fall off, but the solder joints holding the little circuit boards together melted & disintegrated into dozens of parts. That's pretty darn hot, like 400 degrees F hot!
Most times during my testing, I'll run the larger LED's at 12v for 30 minutes or so to see if there are any issues, then move up to 12.5v, 13v, 13.5v, 14v & then up to 14.5v which is about the top of the voltage limits most vehicles will produce when running.
If a LED won't hold up under those conditions, it's not worth the time to throw it in the trash.
These LED's may have been OK to use for turn signal LED's that are only on for a few seconds at a time.
For running/brake lights that would be on for a considerable amount of time every time you use the vehicle, I'd avoid them.
Over the years I've had some failures, some LED's burned out, some have got warm, some have got hot, some have fizzled out before testing was finished, but NEVER have I had an entire LED assembly melt apart like these did.
I caution anyone looking into this style of LED no matter where you get them from, TEST them thoroughly before installing them in your vehicle.
This kind of garbage is what will cause damage to your vehicle.
If I had just bought them, repackaged them & someone bought them from me without me testing them, there's a good chance they could have done some serious damage to their vehicle. I couldn't sleep at night knowing someone's vehicle was damaged due to something they got from me.
I know some people see the LED's I have & go elsewhere to buy them because they can save a buck and that's OK. I'm not twisting anyone's arm to make me their exclusive LED supplier. Just want everyone to know that I test every LED I get in BEFORE they get sent out (and I mark the polarity to make the install a little easier) & if I find any problem with a LED, it goes into my scrap box & I'll disassemble it to see what the issue was or just use it for experimenting.
In the very rare event that one of my LED's fails under normal use, I'll do my best to make things right too.
I've went through dozens of LED's this year trying to find what I think are really good & that have the features I look for like: super bright light, good color, don't get hot even after running at maximum voltage for extended periods of time and probably most important... LED's that don't cost so much that nobody can afford them. So far, I'm still searching for the next best thing but rest assured once I find some I'm happy with I'll be posting my findings

That's crazy! Are those the type that people usually run in there reverse lights?
I'm glad you actually care about the product you are selling unlike a lot of the people these days. Makes me glad I get my LEDs from you haha. Good looking out.

Re: buggman's Plug-in LED's leds (KY)
And this is why I keep spending money with you. I already bought the 120 led lights and now most of the interior. And more to come.

I have LED's for both styles of clusters, but orange will be nearly impossible to find. I've ordered "orange" led's a dozen times from a dozen suppliers & I always get either yellow or red, never orange.
I honestly wouldn't use yellow in the cluster unless you went with a full led conversion with plug-in led's as well as multiple led strips or individual led's mounted around the inside of the cluster.
Yellow led's tend to be dimmer than any other color led I've used. Even the very bright plug-in yellow led's I have don't compare to the other led's in terms of brightness.

Re: buggman's Plug-in LED's leds (KY)
*BEGIN RANT*
Recently someone posing as a potential "client" to me began asking detailed questions about my Plug-in LED's.
Normally I don't think twice about offering a full list of info that will help anyone make a more informed decision about choosing the proper LED for their application. You can probably look back through this very thread & find a ton of useful info.
It's nice to know that I'm able to help the folks in the Ranger community do some cool DIY mods.
Anyone who has contacted me will surely attest to the fact that I probably overload them with tons of useful information, tips & tricks so they can decide if/how/when they want to begin their journey into the world of BUGGMAN LED's.
With that said, it has come to my attention that the previously mentioned (and un-named) individual has used the information I provided to them (posing as a potential client) to go out and find similar LED's to the ones I offer and begin selling them here.
I have no issue with capitalism, but I do take offense to someone who under false pretense obtains the information that I spent many years accumulating (not to mention lots of money & time) solely for their own personal financial benefit.
I've been part of the Ranger community for many years & I'd like to think I've made a lot of friends during that time.
Several of you have trusted me to help you find the LED's you need to do your own mods & I truly appreciate each and every person who has given me their trust.
I look at it like this: A guy goes into a Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurant and asks for the Colonel's secret recipe because he "likes the taste of the chicken". Once he has the recipe, he opens a chicken shack next door and starts selling his chicken made with the Colonel's recipe.
So, if there's a better deal out there that I can't beat, I don't blame anyone for jumping on it to save a buck.
For anyone who finds their way back to me, rest assured I'll still provide you with the same high level of support if you need it... as long as it doesn't pertain to someone else's product.
*END RANT*
Now that I have that off my chest...
Gauge Cluster LED's for the Older & Newer style clusters,
HVAC LED's for the Older & Newer style hvac panels,
Dome light LED's for the single bulb rectangular domes,
Dome light LED's for the 3 bulb (also 2 bulb) Bubble shaped domes,
Dome light LED's for the Mustang Dome lights,
3rd Brake Light LED's (not to mention my full LED conversions),
License Plate Light LED's,
Glovebox light LED's,
Under Hood light LED's,
Newer style corner marker lights...
Not plug-ins, but I have NEW super bright WATERPROOF LED strips too!
Great for under the dash, under seats, behind the seats, under the bed rails, inside toolboxes, under the hood... the possibilities are endless.
If there's something I left out, there's a good chance I have or can get it for you too
Thanks again to everybody who has trusted me for their LED needs.

Buggman has better customer service than anybody I've ever met, he offers great products at an amazingly low price and barely makes a buck in his venture, but in reality he does it for the love of research and development and to see his final product put to great use... Buggman actually cares about his customers more than his own profits which makes him an absolute delight to deal with... He's always super helpful when you have questions and goes above and beyond.
Will never deal with anybody but Buggman with anything LED related!

Thanks man,
Pooleo is a good guy. We've done a few deals ourselves & sometimes we bounce ideas off each other too.
While we do some similar LED mods, we each have our own style & I don't consider us "in competition" with each other.
Sometimes I may not be able to do a mod due to lack of core parts that he just happens to have on hand & I gladly refer people his way.
He's done some full gauge cluster LED conversions that are absolutely sweet. At the time I didn't have any spare clusters to mod & I had no issue referring people his way. Now that I have a couple clusters to work on I'm gonna try my hand to see what I can come up with.
Same goes for his mustang dome lights. He's the man when it comes to them & I've referred lots of guys to him because I know he'll take care of them (even if he gets a little behind sometimes )
GCextreme is a great guy too. As mentioned, he's found parts for me to mod & I really appreciate the help! Without my junkyard hunters, I couldn't do half of my cool mods.
We've been spitballing some ideas too, so you guys/gals will have to stay tuned for that
