Wasn't too bad if you have the tools. I just glued some 2x4 in a rectangle, sanded the edges down and stained it, then I bought some foam and cut it to the shape I wanted, and the hardest part is getting the material over the foam, if you know someone good with sewing it wouldn't be bad though. Need a hole through the wood and it bolts right in the same way the old one did. I believe I needed to countersink the hole. All done took less than 4-5 hours work I believe. Mine is the bench type but if yours is console i'm sure you could something similar, just wouldn't need to fold up
