No, not at all. You'd rather ride the fatty than the 'rod?
*Could be worse, could be a sportster............

The V-rod has some of the worst ergonomics of any bike ever made. A friggen uncomfortable ride, every time, every day. Unfortunately it also has the first engine with technology that suits the decade it was made in. Harley made the biggest mistake after not patenting engine designs in marginalizing Erik Buell. He could have taken them into the 21st century. Of course it would have been kicking and screaming, but still.

I'd never own a Harley because it was comfortable, I'd buy one because it's a Harley. That, and my jap rides weren't super reliable, and a Harley would be a whole new trip. One thing for sure, I've rode Sportsters and man oh man, those must be the Chevy Vega of Harley, lol. Short wheelbase, jittery, bouncy, no fun, body fatigue, sore butt after 30 minutes on a not overly bumpy road. Not good.

They are all that and more.
I have to go the other way. I don't buy for name, I buy for comfort, ridability, reliability, value for dollar. Having the Harley name on it counts not at all. And every metric bike I've ever owned has been stone cold reliable. Even the 33 year old one I'm riding now. But my tastes in bikes is kind of minimalistic. I don't go for bloat, weight, extras. I can't stand floor boards on a bike. No windshields for me.
Personal taste in the end.

They can thank Porsche for that engine. I love HDs, they keep me entertained while riding.

Sometimes I wonder who owns and what ever happened to my Suzuki 850. That sucker, right out of the box in '81 turned nearly 12 sec flat QM's without having to practice and beat it to death learning. In fact, other than a few 1100's and up to about 75MPH, nothing could really beat me. Then came the V65's and my party got rained on. If I ever bought another jap ride, I'm pretty sure it would be one of those V65's, that's a whole lot of bang for the buck. Just prey it doesn't break, parts could be a bit tough to come by.
