Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010
If I do my original headlights I will do a better job sanding the chrome off so the paint will stick better.
Thanks for the comments.

No need to sand it.
Mine have lasted for 4 years with no problems

do you need to tape this part between the reflecting parts of the light?

I just always tape off the whole reflection area.
You can paint the lip or tape it depends what u want.

If you are using the chrome to reflect light, then it needs to be masked off. The only necessary portions that need to be taped if your using the stock optical surfaces are the reflecting bowls. The line is not a reflecting optical surface.

Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010
I just did my lights last night. My wife thought I was crazy when she came home and seen me baking my headlights. But it looks pretty awesome! Great mod!

Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010
I love how not one of y'alls wives have been okay with this, so you wait until they're gone. lol. We have some smart guys on this forum. The ones who have been caught need to slip their wives an extra $20 or so to make sure they're away for a little longer.
I'm perfectly happy with my stock headlights, so I don't intend to do this, but this is still a really cool mod!

Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010
Stupid question but nobody's covered it unless I missed it so I'll ask. Does this mod effect light output either positive or negative? Thanks.

Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010
No it doesn't affect it the output at all. You are just blacking out the inner surround, the mirror part to reflect the beam goes untouched.

Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010
did mine on the weekend, started with 5 min at 170, that didnt work, ended up doing 25 min at 200. Guess my oven is shit lol. I cooked the corner lights a bit long, they warped a bit oh well.

Re: Headlight Mod for 2001-2010
Has anyone done this with aftermarket headlight asemblies? Im just afraid Ill jack it up and need new headlights. Id rather keep my originals and use aftermarkets, that way if they get jacked up, I wont feel too bad.
These are what Im looking at.
Thanks!
