I just melted my right sidelight. It was only at 200 for 5 minutes to soften the glue. Great! Where do I get a sidelight without paying steep dealer prices?

They're widely available aftermarket.

Andy, did you walk in to their store or did you order online? Any particular location? or contact points?

Thanks Andy,

Everything local is closed until Monday, so I am grounded until then. Wish I had Benson Auto Parts close by, but they are not in New Brunswick.

that blows. This is ridiculous that some people can put em in at 8,000 degrees for 12 hours with no issues, and others can't get the lens within 10 feet of the oven without the plastic turning to liquid in their hand.

I got my new ones on ebay.

John,

I shoulda stuck with the water idea, or bought ones already done on Ebay like you, or better yet, left them alone. I will try to pick a couple up locally tomorrow if the cost is reasonable.

Stephen

Edit: BTW, who's Meg?

It is not that some are lucky and others are not. You have to watch then closely. You could stick them in at 500 degrees and only stick them in for 1 minute and be fine.

It also depends greatly on how your oven makes that heat and what you place the lights on. If you have exposed heating elements and the lights is just on the grate, the radiant heat its exposed to when the element is on will be a lot more than the set temperature. You need to have it on a tray or a few layers of foil to protect it from direct radiant heat.

I find a cookie sheet/pizza pan to work best

Notice in the how to the headlight is on a pizza pan. Which has small holes all around it.
