How many O2 sensors are on a 2004 Ranger FX4 with a 4.O
One auto parts store said 2 upper and 2 lower.
Another store said 1 upper and 1 lower.

Question Re: How-To: Oxygen Sensor replacement

Are the 2 upper then basically the same number when picking them up or are the wires a different length? I did pick up one upper and one lower just to get started.

Wiring is different so they are different part numbers

So - it would be best to go back to the auto parts store and find out what bank the part I have is for to make sure I am putting it on the right side.

Old thread but is this something that should be replaced after time? I ask only because my 01' has 170k miles on it and to my knowledge the o2 sensors are probably from the factory. No CEL's and no loss of MPG... my 2.3L gets around 25mph via the highway.

I'd rather not change shit that isn't broken because normally when I start changing things proactively something else is amplified...lol

Thanks,
-Nigel

I've answered in your other thread as well...but no.

If it isn't broke...don't fix it.

Arrow Re: How-To: Oxygen Sensor replacement

THANK YOU!

I had to remove my fender liner. I was putzing around trying to remove the damn sensor from under the truck and for 35 minutes was like HTF is this going to come out....

Removed fender liner and 45 seconds later the o2 sensor was out...lol

Thank you!

-Nigel
