Bolt is destroyed I cut nut end off with hack saw. New hangers n shackled come with all necessary nuts bolts and bushings so I don't need or want to use the old ones and don't care about them other than getting them off of the leaf springs. My main concern is getting the old bolt out. Again I don't think new bushing will fit in the whole on the lead spring without the rest removed. I will however lose the rubber part that is on both outside edges of the leaf as it seems to be all connected with the bushing. It seems to be acting like a washer that sits between leaf and shackle but there is none in the new box. I'll take some pics when I get home to show. I know I wrote a lot but I am frustrated and know this is the only things holding me up on the whole process.

Thanks again!!!!

you should be able to get the bolt out with some more effort by pulling on the bolt head. believe me, i know it is a bitch, but it usually just takes a little more sweat & some creativity.

big hammers, glasses, punches, & chisels are pretty handy for that...

Ok, I also tried without using pb blaster. Bought some this morning and soaked it real good n it's been sitting like that. Hopefully that will help too

yeah, if you definitely have new bushing that will fit, burn that bitch!

but first, if you have a puller or press, that should force out the bushing a lot easier and faster.

no ... this is $20, but it might require a bigger one to get around the springs eye.

----------

the concept is simple, it pulls gears/pulleys and presses bushings/bolts - as long as it has something for the jaws to grab onto.

Great day, finished the shackles and hangers and put on rear shocks. Bolts were a pain but we got em. Now to clean up rust on frame and paint.

Thanks and thanks for all the info and encouragement. Like u said it took, pb blaster, mini sledgehammer, chisel, pry bar sawsal and lots of sweat and a few minor scratches. Now working and painting frame. It's not gonna be perfect but hopefully it will help with the rust. Only need weather to cooperate now( lots of rain today)

Is it possible to do this without removing the bed? I was going to paint the underside of my truck tonight with the bed on... but still need to replace these parts...

yes it's possible, but it's really really hard with the bed on. trust me, you will get so much rust in your eyes even with glasses on...
