Congrats on the find! I'm in search for seats like that also, they are very rare. Very cool.

Shorty consoles were in box explorers and ones up to 03 I believe. All those consoles are the same so you will be good to go. Good luck with your search.

Are they really? I honestly thought the seats were a common find, they're in pretty decent condition too. So explorers up to 03? So what about the brackets? I'm not sure if I have to drill hole.or if they're already there so all I would have to do is bolt them down

Oh yeah, or at least around here. I never see any escort gts around here, those halo headrest are pretty desirable.

Yeah I believe up to then, all the box explorers or the ones that still look like a ranger will fit. The newer style explorers won't work I don't think. It has a big bracket that the armrest bolts into. That holds down the whole console. Also in the front there will either be a little bracket or two white plastic things that screw in the floor. I just used self tapping screws since mine didn't have holes either. There is a thread somewhere on here that I used for my install.

Alright that makes sense I'll defiantly have to go and look at some tomorrow, if you find that thread let me know. So you just drilled some self tapping screws for the bracket it and threw the console.over that?

This is the one I used, great write up, it should tell you everything you need to know.

http://www.rangerforum.com/threads/h...consoles.2414/

Yep that's what I did. Under my carpet there were places where the screws would have went if it had a console, like little circles in the metal. Take a look under your carpet before the install and check to be certain, I have a 96 and it was there on mine. But check that link and it should help a lot.

Sorry I would've replied to this sooner but I was on my phone and didnt see it. The ford escort GT and the ford mustang seats are the same they were bucket style seats with a halo style head rest. they're very comfortable and look really nice in rangers. I decided on that vehicle because it was the first vehicle that didnt have red upholstery (I have a blue ranger), torn/ugly/smelly/awfully stained, and the seats were comfy. So I jumped at it, im very happy with my decision especially that im rid of that stupid 60/40 bench seat.

I will defiantly use this If i install an explorer console, thank you very much. Im going to have to look under my carpet I guess the best way would be to just cut a piece and pull it up? If there is nothing there I will more than likely just have to measure it out and screw them down with some self tapping screws.

No problem. That might be the only way, unless you take your seats back out and try to pull the carpet up some. So you don't have to cut it up. Actually I looked under my truck also, and you can see those places, in the middle of the truck where the console should be. There was two indented circles there I think. Would be worth a shot to look. That always works too. That way you can put it where is it most comfortable.

I'll defiantly take a look at that tomorrow. I'm hoping it is already set for a console I wish there was more on first and second gen rangers. If it isn't set for them I suppose I will have to measure and drill which would suck but I guess I could always call up my dad he's pretty decent with those types of things.

My last 2000 Ranger I swapped out the 60/40 seat for buckets & installed a shorty console & just nut & bolted it to the floor. There dimples in the floor under the carpet where to drill since the Ranger could have come with a console & bucket seats.

Well I went to the junkyard and got a shorty console its even blue son it matches my interior. It seems to be in pretty god condition just needed to be wiped down. I checked this morning for the places as to where the holes would be but I didn't feel or see anything so I'm probably just gonna have to screw it down with some self tapping screws. Only problem is that I don't really know the exact dimensions and where the brackets are supposed to sit so I'm gonna have to have my dad put the brackets down. I'm also wondering do I have to cut the pieces of my carpet where the bracket goes?

Hey guys just wanted to update real quick, I got the short console in. It was fairly easy and quick. All I did was take the console lay it over the rear bracket it then held the rear bracket in place while I pulled the console off screwed it down and repeated with the front bracket. I did not remove any carpet, my truck did not have any actually spots allocated for a console, and it took total about an hour worth of work and about 20 bucks. Really really worth every bit of time and money. Its working great so far

Glad you got it figured out! Post some pictures when you can. Good thing it wasn't too difficult. I love my console so much more than the 60/40 console.
