Default Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod

I just did the mod. I have yet to test on the road as I had a couple beers as I was doing it. There was approx 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch of play in mine. I did not get them real tight but as long as they don't slip over the end of the cable it's all good. It took 2 for mine.

Next Day : Big difference. I used to struggle to get up to 70 on the freeway, now she get's there and then some. Wonder why I didn't do this sooner.

Did this today. Took 5 small zip ties. Made a noticeable difference in throttle response. Good mod

I did this today along with a thorough throttle body cleaning and it made a massive difference in the response and power! It's like having a new truck. Thanks for this mod!

Oh god, thought I was going die trying to get both hands up in there. I got one zip tie on the throttle cable for all that work. Took me almost 30 minutes of laying on my floorboard for only that. Noticed no difference...

Just did the mod. I'm not contortionist, so it took me 15 minutes or so...but GOD what a difference. I had about 1/2" or so of play. Two zip-ties took up the slack, and what a huge difference. The first-second gear upshift comes TONS sooner, and the response from a dead stop is far better.

I may only have a 3.0, but this definitely made it feel a V6, and not my best friend's 2300... Great, easy fix for an overlooked problem. Kudos to the discoverer

ha yeah its a pain in the ass getting in there comfortable so you can see the damn cable to attach the ties.

i put 2 big ones and one small one on mine. HUGE difference. first time i drove it i spun the tires (gravel) cause i wasnt expecting that much of a difference. its great.

Gave me more throttle response, but makes me hold higher rpms...we'll see how long it stays.
