If A person has the Actron CP9190 Autoscanner, what would be a good tuner/programmer to complement it? Let's say it's for a 1999 Ranger. Also, what if you were not getting true WOT? Can the TPS be reprogrammed with a tuner, or can it be cleaned or modded to reach true WOT? Maybe the best option is to buy a new TPS? I'm asking to learn!

I looked at mine today, it does not have a spring between the pedal and the end of the throttle cable. It hits the metal piece on the end and pulls it out, but it was loose and my pedal had play. Put 2 ties before the little metal piece and the truck has a lot more response when I hit the pedal.

I did it. It takes 2 minutes and you get a much better feel of the throttle. I recommend it. I fit 4 small zip-ties in there so i guess i really needed it...

I just did this to newbie, I have done it in the past actually, long before I ever thought of looking for forums. My '01 was having difficulties getting into the "kickdown" for passing. You had to really cram the pedal. It took 6 zip ties, but now the response is like night and day, also the kickdown is working as it should.

i wanna say thanks a ton to the person who posted this little trick! i fit 3 medium sized zip ties on it, and it picked the pedal off the floor by at least a couple of inches. it also has helped with the lack of power this truck seemed to have. A+

i would have taken a pic to show the spot, but my camera gave up the ghost on me a week or so ago. but its easy to locate. my truck doesnt have cruise control, and i only noticed one cable down there. i guess if there's a second one, its for the cruise system.

DETAILED DIRECTIONS

you'll need a few zip ties and something to snip the excess tie off with once they are on the cable (optional, i guess). take each tie and put the tail through its eye, making a large-diameter circle out of each one (one tie = one circle).

open the drivers door and stick your head down by the pedals and look up. you'll see a cable coming through the top of the pedal arm, with a round, flat end on the cable that's about the diameter of a pencil. take a free hand and lift the pedal itself up off the floor. notice that when the pedal is fully up, there is about an inch of slack cable (give or take) hanging out past the pedal arm. that slack is why the pedal hangs low, and is what we want to get rid of with this mod. the zip ties, when put in a row on the end of the cable, act as washers to draw the slack out of the cable/pedal. pretty simple, and completely safe.

okay, so at this point, you should know where the target is, and you should have your ties looped and ready to go.

with one hand pick the pedal up as far as you can get it. take one of the zip tie loops and slip it over that flat round end of the cable. put the first tie as far back, closest to the pedal arm as you can get it, and tighten it up. repeat as many times as necessary, working from the pedal arm towards the flat metal piece, until you cant fit any more ties in the slack space. then trim the tails off of the ties, and you're finished!

Sometimes my gas pedal is hard to push down and when that happens my flowmaster exhaust is quieter than when the gas pedal is easy to push down. So I'm wondering why this is happening?
