Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod
Did this mod and took a 0-60 video, first time I accelerated it that hard since I put the ties on:
The difference is AMAZING. I had serious wheelspin to the point where I actually had to let off the gas to keep the truck under me, and I still put up a 9 second-or-so 0-60. I bet I could shave it down to 8.5 if I had a smoother start, too. I'm not so impressed by the acceleration as I am by the ability to perform under WOT.
Notice how it keeps shooting up after I hit 60. It got to 70 in no time.

All this does is tighten the slack on your throttle cable giving quicker throttle response

On hills no idea, but as bigfisher says it gives you a better response of the throttle, specially on the road. Works great with cruise control also and I can not tell a difference in consumption, its the same

After 303,000 miles I was surprised I only needed 3 zip ties. Big difference!

Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod
For those wondering whether this mod actually improves shifting, wonder no more. If before your truck was lumbering along at low RPM's because you weren't getting full pedal travel, it makes sense that it would now shift better now that it's operating in the RPM and acceleration range it was designed for. I know mine certainly does.

Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod
Did this mod last night. There is definitely a big improvement and it's super easy to check to see if you need to do it. BAM!

Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod
I did this mod. I was able to use 1, probably could do 2 zip ties but didn't want to stretch it. Probably done in 5 minutes from finding it, to cutting zip tie. It works, but I can only tell a difference if I press down the gas pedal which eats gas.

Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod
We had a slow day at work today, and my boss had a few zap straps in his truck. so i did it, got 1 big one and 1 small one, so about 3/8th to half and inch of slack tightened on my 2.9L 91', Holy fffff, so much better, bearly have to touch the pedal to go now, and when i do i can even get the tires spinning, wasnt use to it on my way hope, and shifted to 3rd gear on a hill in the rain for fun before the wheels caught, because i wasnt use to how little i have to press the pedal now.

Re: How to: Throttle Cable mod
just did this mod earlier today and i notifed a big difference in throttle response on my 2.3l. i fit one big zip tie and one smaller zip tie to fill in a little bit of wiggle room. it still has a tiny but of space to wiggle. i highly
recommend this mod.

Just did mine last night with some left over spaces from a flatscreen tv wall mount. Drives like a brand new truck. Gonna take a minute to get used to that a promise.
