How to: Front Cobra disc brake conversion
Mod: Front COBRA brakes
This 'How To' is to put 94-04 COBRA front disc brake onto a RANGER. The COBRA has 13inch rotors with larger piston calipers. This setup is a MAJOR improvement to the stock RANGER disc brakes up front.
This conversion is only for 2wd, coil sprung RANGERs. This set up will NOT work for EDGE for 4wd Rangers.
Step 1: Obtain the out of production kit from some dude in Canada.:
Step 2: Take off old front brakes, and bolt on modified front hub:
Step 3: Slide on front rotors and bolt on new Caliper with its corresponding caliper offset bracket:
Step 4: Bleed brakes, bed in new rotors and pads, and enjoy new big brake kit!!!!:
***I went with Stainless Steel braided lines because it is badass and the most highest performance i could do when doing this swap.
And you're done!!!

Re: How to: Front Cobra disc brake conversion
What kind of hubs do I have to buy and what is the modification I would have to do?
Thanks for replying.

Re: How to: Front Cobra disc brake conversion
Just a quick question. Would this mod work for an early '90s Ranger, such as my '92? I ask because of how the suspension is set up. My truck doesn't have a rack/pinion steering, nor does it have the strut/spring combo either.

Re: How to: Front Cobra disc brake conversion
I have a question... I have hub rotor set up on my 2002 Tremor (2 wheel drive) with a torsion bar suspension up front... I just want cross drilled rotors up front with better pads.
Can I just replace the steering knuckle with the 4x4 knuckle spindle set up so I just can buy cross drill rotors to mount on it?

Re: How to: Front Cobra disc brake conversion
why not just buy cross drilled rotors for the 2wd trucks? they're out there.

Re: How to: Front Cobra disc brake conversion
Cause its awesome to look through the wheel and see COBRA staring back at you on a Ranger haha. This is definantly on my wish list especially since I plan on running 20s or 22s

too expensive. I'm looking for a cheaper route. I don't mind doing the GT brake set up. anything better than whats on it now.

Re: How to: Front Cobra disc brake conversion
Did you NOT read the OP? This mod WILL NOT work for your torsion bar 2wd. Just buy slotted rotors.......they make 'em for your truck. Don't fill this thread up with BS 'cause you didn't read the 3rd note down from the top.
Sure there's ways to make it work, but I don't see you taking the time to make it work.

this set up is like $425 for the brackets and hubs from what i read, might be just the brackets. still need rotors, pads, calipers, brake lines, etc.
slotted rotors are cheaper
