V6 will work, there isn't an issue there. I went GT myself, but I also had a line on new parts for GT stuff. I took the leap and now I just need the brackets.

More stopping power. Those cars had bigger brakes to handle the more powerful engines. So a lot of guys go for that. THat's all. You don't need the anti moan brackets...but they sure as shit don't hurt. You do need the other brackets yes.

Cobra brakes require special brackets. V6 brackets will work with the GT parts.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
To do this do you have to change out the master cylinder? I'm looking into doing this for my 01 4wd and what year mustang works?

just to add to this: Mustangs with v6/GT have the same rear brakes. This includes calipers, caliper holder, anti-moan bracket, rotors etc....

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
I've done this to my old 91 fox body mustang back in the days. 5 lug conversion up front and disk brakes on the rear. Was really fun. Now I have a 2002 Tremor, 3.0, 2 wheel drive... yadi yadi yadi yah... I'm not happy with the brake. i know it's not a mustang but I really want that extra braking. I'm defiantly doing the Cobra brakes up front and rear. I was just wondering "do you have to modify the proportioning valve to adjust the braking on the rear? " Thanks for the awesome write up.

You don't have to change the proportioning valve that anyone I know have has done. You can, but you don't need to.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
I would suggest bolting in the cut out piece for if nothing else to limit torque movement of caliper mount, every little bit helps.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
Yes it works on 8.8 28 spline
With cobra brakes there can be issues not completely known if you do GT/v6 disk set up you will be fine that's what I have with my 15x10
