Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
Nice...just wish I had the $200 to bid on 'em right now...oh well...
As a side note, I'd also think you could find a local Cherry-Picked or Pick 'n' Pull to maybe find the parts that way.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
Just got told, at the rate I am driving I will need rear brakes - they are original with 94000 miles on them - in six months. I will be doing this conversion here soon, and I will include pricing for what I am doing.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
Gang,
For those looking for the conversion parts Ebay is a good choice but don't forget about Mustang boards. The Corral is an EXCELLENT site to find the parts you need. Most Mustang guys upgrade their brakes and have the old stuff we need lying around. I picked up everything i needed, short of calipers and rotors, plus i scored a used limited slip diff from the same cat for $100 for everything. I may be the exception but it's worth a try.
To me, i do not trust used calipers and lines. Nothing against anyone selling them, i just prefer to spend the extra $$$ on new "consumables".
Again, try our Mustang brethren if you're short on options.
Oh, and a huge thanks to the TS. Superb article.

Quick question, do you have to upgrade stock ranger master cylinder if you do this conversion? Just wondering, message me back please. Thanks, Erik.

No, you may have to do a proportioning valve on the rear axle, but from what I am hearing, even that you really don't need to do.

I just got caliper, caliper bracket, and anti-moan bracket for 58 bucks and some change. Mike, do you happen to know the part number from currie for these lines? Are they the ones on their site that say for cobra discs?
