I have an 04' supercab 4x4 not FX4 or anything 8.8 rear end. Question would this be about everything I would need?
Or would I need anything else?

If yours is a 7.5 then yes. You will need rotors and pads as well.

Rear end size. Rangers came with a 7.5 rearend and a 8.8 rearend. The mustang disc brakes will only work on a 7.5. What motor is in your truck? If it's a 4.0 it's an automatic 8.8 rearend

Yeah it's a 4.0, automatic with the 8.8 rear end. So this won't work for me right?

Yeah I know. I have a full kit at the house. Just need pads and hoses. Rotors were just turned. Don't know if I'll be installing them on the truck or not

Not true. Case in point, I have an 8.8 and did the swap.

Yeah - always thought the limiting issue was spline count (AKA - Had to be non 31-Spline) not the axle type.

I'm going off the first post in this thread saying it won't. If you did that's sweet. Maybe can help him

??

I see where it says it wont work for 31-spline 8.8 axles....but I don't see it saying it wont work for the standard 8.8 axle (w/ 28-spline).

Well that would be great if it did cause I think that kit on eBay albeit used would be helluva lot cheaper than the other kit I found for $575. To find out my spline I can use the vin tag on the door?

For your model year (2004), if it's not an FX4 lvl II - you have 28-spline axles.

Also from the 1st post (modified a touch):

  • 2008~2009 FX4 Off Road (only when equipped with the "XR8" option - Torsen diff/31-spline/4.10 ratio).
