Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
You don't need any if you do mustang or that kit.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
You really need to start a new thread. This isn't the ssbc thread it's the mustang conversion thread.
I do not know I am running the mustang swap

From what I read on Summit from the link you posted ( Part #M-2300-M), it allows for the installation of Cobra calipers. If your still in doubt, the best bet would be to call them.

EDIT: Also, according to the actual install manual available here: Mustang GT Rear Disk Brake Bracket Kit
It says the kit allows for the installation of Cobra or Bullitt rear calipers, part numbers M-2320-CR and M-2320-R respectively.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
and here are the final results. the hardest part of this whole thing was getting the drums off.. mainly cutting the backing plate off.
still need to put tabs on the tube to hold the line in one place

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
oh fuck i dont even know.. blew the budget, but did it over a few months so didnt seem as bad.
brackets from the jy were like $15 or something, cant remember cause i bought junk calipers at the same time.
new rotors were $60, cheaped out.
used calipers off CL were around $60 but came with used rotors too.
and the soft lines i needed were $25 from a member on here. then you have all the misc like brake fluid and cutoff wheels etc. all in all not a super pricey swap...
oh there could be the possibility of me running an expo master cylinder if i decide mines not cutting it. priced one of those out and it was $70 new.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
Just out of curiosity, is it possible to use the stock disc brakes from newer Rangers to convert older Rangers? Just seems like it would make more sense but I'm sure its a different bolt pattern or something. Just wondering

I wondered the same thing, I believe the axle flange or whatever is different and so they don't fit.
----------
I also believe the newer trucks are 31 spline axles as opposed to our 28.
Not sure it could be done... If it could I think it'd be a lot more work though

the new ones with disc are 31 spline where as ours only is 28. There is a thread about it somewhere
