I did not have to space out my caliper bracket at all. I bent new hard line got it to connect to my custom made ss brake lines. Better stopping now and the "e" brakes is awesome.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
it has nothing to do with gearing.
the issue is this. you need a 28 Spline axle to do the mustang swap.
2002 FX4 and 2003+ Fx4 Level II - have 31 spline axles, the bolt pattern on the axle flange in 100% different.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
Just did this swap.Awesome write up btw. quick question though, where can i find just the little coil for the e-brake and the e-brake cables?
the calipers i bought didnt have them.
only thing i messed up on was that i mounted the calipers on the wrong sides so theyre upside down right now hahaha.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
after doing this swap i found a problem. i have no rear brakes!!! the pedal gets stiff and slowly sinks to the floorboard. i had the rear end jacked up and ran the truck, hit the brakes & the tires kept spinning. again, the pedal slowly sank to the floor. i checked for leaks and bled the fuck outta my brakes. could it be a bad Master Cyl?

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
you said you mounted the calipers upside down. that makes them unable to bleed. i am guessing lots of air

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
is there a reason a kit like this: http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/7....aspx?kc=ffsku wouldn't fit a 2008?

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
What I'm getting at is, were there changes in 2006 that would make this swap different for newer trucks? Or was the manufacturer of that kit not keeping up with the model years.

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
does anyone know if the flex hose kit for the cobra calipers will work on non-cobra calipers?

Re: How to: Rear disc brake conversion for stock Ranger rear end
Hey all, just wanted to come to this thread and share a link for anyone looking to do this swap in the future, did a little research (I want to do this in the near future but can't atm). Summit Racing sells a near complete kit to do a rear swap.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FM...00-M/?rtype=10 and I would assume you could find calipers and pads somewhere on there for pretty cheap, just thought I would share it because the parts listed in the ''kit'' seem identical to the ones written on the write up.
Happy swappin all
