Some of the silver came out. Put silver Rust Oleum in the grooves. Looked the same when I had the insert out and held to light. Painted back, still looked good. But when insert put in chrome carrier, and mounted on truck, very obvious difference.

Looking to redo. But what silver? Or is this a case of dig it out, and replace all?

Only if you never want to take it off again and want epoxy runs down your tailgate. Use 3M double sided trim tape.

Hmm... it seems the REAR oval on the tailgate is one that will pry off(Going to try in the morning, so i can use the hairdryer, I got small chips on there and it wasn't budging when I had it in front of my wallheater for 5min lol) but the one on the grille isn't... I'll have to look close at it when I remove it to repaint the grille.

Is it possible Ford put different styles of emblems?

I got a 02 ford ranger edge 4.0

use fishing line between the two plastic pieces...pull in a sawing motion
This will cut through the glue.....

You could also look up member Buggman, he mods and sells them...or buy on eBay. Runs around $40-50...my time is worth to much to attempt it myself

if you can't get the ovals apart (that's the hardest part) I have ovals in various stages of disassembly for guys who want to paint their own too.
