Without A/C its 6.5 quarts (1.625 or 1 and 5/8 gallons)
with A/C its 7.2 quarts (1.8 gallons)

So I'll add three gallons of distilled water to my shopping list...


(without A/C, but two for the flush and less than one for the fill)...


Ummm... What's going to be the best way to flush my system out?


Already flushed my radiator out of the truck.


When I get her running what's the best way to flush the whole system?

I usually use the Prestone flush and fill kit. It adds an adapter to your heater lines so you can attach a garden hose. like 3 or 4 bucks at Walmart.

How long does it take for the truck to reach operating temps at idle? My temp sensor (in the cluster) wasn't working before I started tearing down (even after I replaced the temp sensor)...

but I am also guessing that it might start working when proper fluids are flowing over the sensor instead of oil lol.

Installed the timing tensioner and timing belt today! woot


All I have left to put back together is a few grounds, all the vac lines, the lower intake, upper intake, throttle body, fan clutch and fan, accessory belt, coil packs, spark wires, air box, and radiator + fluids! woot

Got the truck running today! :]



Cracked my EGR tube near the header, started flushing her out. Drove her down the street though :]



Will do the write up for installation, but I didn't take any more pictures.




Audio quality is shit. Truck DOES NOT sound like that lol. Just took the video in the dark to show it was running.

oh and shelton, I used the flush kit, but apparantly the t-stat didn't open, cause after I drained all the clean water which was coming out of the deflection nozel, I filled her with the cleaner and water, let her warm up again, and drove her down the street. Came back w/ the t-stat open, looked in my coolant res. and OIL lolol. Hope it was just everything that was in the motor. :P


Gonna flush her a few more times over the next few days.

Motor runs great, no oil in coolant or coolant in the oil =]


My problems now start with a leaking clutch slave cylinder ranging all the way to shocks, tires, axle seals, wheel cylinders, ball joints, etc. :P

Smashed my thumb with a sledge today while convincing a donor crossmember to come out of a 96.

doing my head gasket this week, picked up a head at the yard for 40 bucks gettin it cleaned shaved and rebuilt. basically doing a new top end this is really gonna help, glad everything worked out for you.
